5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
Phew, what a YEAR huh? Since I’ve been spending a lot more time indoors and blessed with more time in the morning without needing to commute, I’ve done a bit of a makeover on my morning habits. My last morning routine post was 2016 right when I started this blog. Things have definitely changed 😉
This is completely non-negotiable for me. Yes, I use my phone for my alarm but I don’t look at it until way later. It’s always on “do not disturb” throughout the night and early morning, so I don’t hear it buzzing either. This has been a habit for the past 2-3 years, so I’m honestly just used to it.
It also helps to journal and brain dump if this is more up your alley. I find that I enjoy journaling most without time constraints, so I don’t really confine it to mornings alone. If you’re looking to start bullet journaling though, check out this post where I interviewed my dear friend Rachael, queen of BuJo!
This has been a new one. I’ve been loving pure black coffee lately too… unless I’m sipping on Starbucks’ pumpkin cream cold brew (yup, it’s STILL a thing as we near the end of fall and I won’t stop getting it until it’s no longer available lol).
But really though, I used to wake up, get ready, and sit at my desk first thing with a hot cup of coffee. I find that when I do this, I get super flustered so I started making time for myself.
I like mixing between fiction and nonfiction depending on my mood. I’ve contemplated getting a Kindle, but I’m not sure if I want to read from a device. There’s something serene about flipping actual pages. Am I right?
I’m currently finishing Glennon Doyle’s Untamed and I’m sure you’ve heard it’s a pretty good read!!
Every morning before my cup of coffee, I take a shot of adaptogens. They’re basically non-toxic plants marketed to help your body fight stress and fatigue. Since I don’t have shot glasses at home, I chug from the bottle straight up 😛 These adaptogens are powerful and have helped me get through my stressful work days plus they taste good.
I also love taking HUM Nutrition’s Skin Squad bc it not only helps me with my stubborn adult acne (!!) but it also helps heal gut health.
And that’s all I’ve started doing to elevate my mornings! I want to emphasize that being “well” looks different for everyone. We also have to look at what our schedule allows us to make room for, so please do not feel bad if certain things just aren’t doable. These are things that have helped me personally, but it may not be ideal for you and that is okay!
Be honest with yourself and come up with something realistic. Our mornings are sacred and can have a huge impact on our days, so try and make time for yourself <3
