5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
I’m just going to spit it out — you can, should, and deserve to live your most abundant life.
You deserve good things. You are worthy of blessings.
Here’s a secret: I sometimes find myself cheering others more than I do myself bc honestly, it’s a lot easier pouring into others.
When you’re accustomed to think a certain way about yourself, it’s easy to ROB yourself of the love + kindness you deserve… especially if you grew up in scarcity in different areas of your life (ie. money, basic necessities, upbringing, social settings, etc).
I remember cheering and hyping others up so much I did not think I needed it myself. To me, if I cheered others on, that was enough. After all, they probably needed it more than I do, right? They probably needed this “borrowed belief” bc they had greater potential in achieving great things.
But how could it be enough? How could I have ever thought to pour from an empty cup?
The self-doubts, the shaming, the negativity. They eventually became my identity. I started believing the words I spoke or rather, the things I spoke became my reality. It’s true what they say, words can be powerful. Here a few tips on how to live your most abundant life.
The words you speak today can be in existence tomorrow.
Let that sink in.
Now, you might be wondering “wtf is manifestation + why is it all over social media?”
Angelina Lombardo, the author of A Spiritual Entrepreneur, says “manifesting is making everything you want to feel and experience a reality… via your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and emotions.”
I’m no queen of manifestation, but once I started adopting a “I can achieve anything” mindset and started being kinder to myself, I saw how limitless my potential was. I realized that despite my dark and challenging past, it did not have to paint a similar portrait for my future.
Now let me be clear, I still have to fight my negative thoughts every single day. What has helped me personally is sharing my goals with Brian + having him hold me accountable.
He would literally stop me + remind myself to be kind. At this point, if I even mention any doubts out loud in his presence, I stop MYSELF + say “wait, jk. I love me. I will be kind to myself.”
It’s ridiculous, I know, but saying this out loud forces me to pause and reassess how I treat myself.
I also heard on TikTok that you can’t be desperate when manifesting bc it exudes repelling energy. Energy is HUGE. Not saying you have to go out + buy a bunch of crystals we know no meaning on. I’m just saying, come from a place of openness and readiness.
The important things when manifesting are:
I’ve heard a quote along those lines multiple times. Would you say those unkind things to your loved ones? So why are you the exception?
Personally, I find that if I were to point out my flaws + weaknesses, that means no one else can bc I’ve already done so. In a way, it’s a weird sort of “upper-hand” mechanism. As I’m typing this, I’m realizing how bizarre this all is but it’s so true. Joke’s on me!
When I was in high school, some anonymous person messaged me on MySpace to tell me how fat + ugly I was to be a cheerleader.
As a teen, those were my insecurities. My acne? Check. Those stretch marks on my legs? Check.
So to have someone else point them out to me (and NOT even knowing who it was) honestly shattered me.
Look at me now, I’m literally almost 30 and I still remember this message and the weird profile photo. Since that day, I started pointing things out on my own to protect myself.
Of course after YEARS of personal development + my continued commitment to my inner work, I am so much better than I was before. This isn’t an overnight journey and confidence isn’t exactly the destination either.
This is an ongoing process which honestly makes for a better incentive! We end up looking forward to working on ourselves EVERY SINGLE DAY. How fun is that? 😛
