5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
I’ve posted a couple of times on IG my latest addition to my morning routine — Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. You’re probably thinking, WTF is EFT tapping? And does tapping your face actually work?!
First, let me paint a lil’ picture. Meet Marie. Marie was feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. Her job was demanding and she felt like she never had enough time for herself. She was always anxious and her stress was taking a toll on her health. One day, she heard about EFT tapping and decided to give it a try. After just a few sessions of EFT tapping, Mary began to feel better. She was less stressed and more relaxed. Her job still demanded a lot of her time, but now she was able to handle it without feeling overwhelmed. EFT tapping had helped her to regain control of her life and her anxiety.
EFT tapping is a healing technique that uses the power of touch to help release emotions and relieve stress. The tapping points are located on the body’s energy meridians. When these points are tapped, it helps to release any blockages in the energy flow (#helloflow!) This can help to improve your overall health and well-being. EFT is an evidence-based cognitive technique invented and made popular by Gary Craig as an approachable and effective tool for those looking to change how they feel in that moment. It combines applying pressure to different points on the face/body with activating emotions with the sole purpose of releasing the physical and emotional effects of negative thoughts on our mind and body. It is a simple, non-invasive technique that can help to improve your overall health and well-being.
In other words, it helps with any emotional disruption or imbalance by changing the neural pathways for emotional freedom. Basically like acupuncture… but without needles. How efficient, right?
Trust me, I know it looks weird. I’ve recorded myself a few times and boy do I look odd!! However, I truly do enjoy tapping!
Some of the benefits of tapping include:
Are you feeling anxious? Do you feel like stress is taking over your life? If so, EFT tapping may be the solution for you. EFT tapping is a technique that helps to release negative emotions and relieve anxiety. It is based on the principles of acupuncture, but does not require any needles! In this blog post, we will discuss the basics of EFT tapping and how it can help to alleviate anxiety.
If you’re interested in trying it out, there are a few things you need to do.
To find the tapping points, you will need to locate these meridians. You can do this by using an EFT tapping chart. Here’s an example:
Doing this prepares you for the sequence. For example, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, continue karate chopping the side of your hand and say something like,
“Even though I feel overwhelmed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Say this 3-4x. Assess where you are with this problem on a scale of 1-10, 1 being not feeling the problem and 10 being omg everything is way too overwhelming for me.
Once you have located the EFT tapping points, set up the sequence, and assess where you are with your problem, you can begin. You can use either hand to tap on the points. Be sure to tap gently and not too hard and be sure to focus on the problem as you’re tapping… focusing on the beliefs you want to tap OUT. Following the example of feeling overwhelmed, solely focus on the resistance you have around your to-do list (ie. all this pressure I’m feeling to get things done, not having time for myself, etc).
After tapping on points expressing the problem out loud, assess where you are. Has your # gone down? Are you feeling slightly better already? If not, do another round focusing on the problem. Otherwise, you are READY to move on to the next round. Hello positive affirmations!!! These affirmations should be positive statements about yourself and your life – anything you want to program IN.
Example: “Even though I have [this problem], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
After you have tapped on the EFT tapping points and repeated these beautiful affirmations, it’s important to breathe deeply, relax, and drink water! This will help to release any remaining stress and anxiety. Since this is a somatic technique, it’s important that you take care of yourself as you’ve done some heavy work (even though it might not seem like it).
Yes, EFT tapping is safe for everyone to use. There are no side effects or risks associated with EFT tapping. It is a gentle and effective way to relieve anxiety and improve your overall health whenever, wherever (& that’s the beauty of it!)
