5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
Hi loves!
Wow, it’s finally the end of January huh? There’s something about this month that while seems exciting first (new year, birthday vibes, etc), somehow this month extends itself to a whole new level. What’s that meme I saw? Oh right, January 74th. LOL.
Anyway with January coming to an end, I thought it’d be fun to share some of my January Favorites!!! I want to keep this going for the whole year, so let’s see if I can do that! (PLEASE hold me accountable!!)
So here we go:
Okay, I’m forever and always SNACKING. I’ve raved about these before, but I am absolutely in love with AG Standard’s Matcha Green Tea Almonds. I first discovered them in LA when my sis and I went to a milk and eggs event. Everyone knows I’m obsessed with all things matcha, so when I stumbled upon their booth, I knew I had to give these a try!! Plus they’re almonds, so they keep you full.
Another favorite snack of mine would be these GFB Gluten-Free Bites! I am a huge fan of their brand that when I was gifted with some of these for the holidays, I was excited! They are made with simple, clean ingredients — ideal for snacking.
My third favorite snack are these peeled dried mangos. I got them from TJ Maxx tbh for my flight back home to LA, and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s sweet in a natural way, and it satisfies your sweet tooth. I’m all for it!
I’ve been listening to three podcasts later. First, I’ve always been an avid fan of The Skinny Confidential (TSC) so when Lauryn (the creator) and her husband Michael came up with a TSC Him & Her podcast, I knew I would love it. There’s something about TSC that’s constantly giving valuable content. From their solo episodes to interviewing a myriad of different guests, I’m constantly learning something new each week. In fact, TSC has been helping me get through those long commutes (via car and the T!)
My second favorite is pretty new and personal called Starring Milana. My friend Milana has always had an amazing personality since the first day I met her back in high school. She has experience hosting shows, curating a YouTube mini series, and somehow continues to juggle it all with a full-time job, spend quality time with her family/friends, AND create the BEST looks from head to toe. Amid these multifaceted layers though, my favorite quality of Milana is her ability to still be grounded and inspire others to be their best self. Starring Milana has been my go-to lately because she not only gives amazing entertainment during my commute, she also manages to provide great insight on some pressing issues we have today (i.e. the government shutdown, the Fyre Festival documentary, the validation of one, etc). Give her a listen today and if you’re into visuals, I recommend her YouTube channel portraying a visual of her podcast 🙂
My third favorite is quick and simple, but NPR’s 15 minutes’ worth of “Up First.” It basically gives you a snippet of what’s going on, which I admit may not be the best in the mornings, but I always find it refreshing to be in the know and truly hone in on what’s happening beyond the entertainment industry.
I say reads bc I won’t be listing books just yet. I’m not a huge reader, BUT I plan on reading more books this year. I have all these different books in my Amazon cart, but I can’t fathom buying all these books when I’m only going to read them once and when I’m trying to save space. LOL so yes I plan on getting that BPL library card soon. Anyway, here are my top reads though!
I stumbled upon The Chill Times when one of my favs Chinae Alexander wrote a piece for them. I started clicking around and immediately got hooked on the different sections: get well, get ready, get physical, get lost, and get home. I like that there are different guest writers, so it gives you an editorial feel.
There are undoubtedly a plethora of influencers I completely love, but for this post, I am only going to highlight 2-3! First, Minna Lee of @livingminnaly. I came across her IG when I was living in NYC for the summer and was looking for NYC influencers to kind of get the scoop on things. What I found though goes beyond her pretty aesthetics. Her captions are so raw and real and always leave you FEELING some kind of way.
Second current favorite is Jera Foster-Fell of @jera.bean. Also from NYC (see a pattern here? Oops!), she’s not afraid to highlight BOTH her highs and lows. She shows her VERY candid photos to convey different angles of her life and like Minna, her captions ignite some brain fuel — always leaving you to think deeper and to push yourself harder at your own pace.
Lastly, my all-time favorite is Anne Phung (@annephung). Former corporate bizwoman turned fitness inspo! I met her a few years ago at the Collective Conference in LA and I remember being star struck. Her captions always tell you a story and like the aforementioned, she inspires you to be the best person you are meant to be. I highly recommend checking her out!
Alright loves! That’s a wrap to my January Favorites! Let me know what you think down below and please share some of your favorites! We’re all in this together.
Have a beautiful day!
