5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
Hey everyone!
HAPPY SNOWING SEASON! I’ve seriously never been happier to see snow. In fact, I think it’s actually my first time witnessing an actual snowfall. I mean, does Big Bear count? I’ve seen snow on the ground mainly. LOL.
Anyway, it was such a beautiful day yesterday. It reminded me of pure BLISS.
Now, like any other Californian or anyone who hasn’t had much experience in White Wonderland, you seriously have to learn how to brave the storm. Here are some tips I gathered based on yesterday’s experience in hopes of helping someone else out –
Layers have always been a huge situation here, but yesterday was the first time I realized that layers actually saves lives (a little bit of an exaggeration here, but that’s okay LOL). Anyway, I had on a heat tech thermal, a sweater, followed by a parka. I’d recommend doubling up on everything too – from leggings to socks. Don’t forget your pair of gloves (had to buy some in the middle of the day).
So… remember that parka I just mentioned? Yeah, it didn’t have that waterproof material, but it somehow remained water ready? I was definitely paranoid as the amount of snow increased gradually throughout the day, but it still looked pretty spiffy!
Pretty much stating the obvious but honestly, I walked out in combat boots thinking they would’ve sufficed. The sad thing is, I actually had gone out to purchase a pair from North Face the day before. I just wasn’t expecting the snowfall to be as heavy as it was yesterday… Oops. If you don’t have snow boots, I recommend anything with good grip, so you won’t slip and fall.
Maybe it’s the holiday season or maybe it’s the blankets of beautiful snow, but yesterday was the first time I had a hot chocolate in years. It was the perfect day to have some too with a dash of cinnamon. It’s also important to stay hydrated. We don’t always realize how much we need to hydrate ourselves especially in the cold, so it’s important to be mindful of that. Having a water bottle around is always ideal!
I know a lot of cold weather natives might disagree, but seriously just enjoy it. We went to Fanueil Hall yesterday, and everything was so festive. They were even having some Ugly Christmas Sweater / Santa Pub Crawls going on with the perfect ambiance filled with Christmas music. As long as you layer up and stay hydrated, you could never go wrong in the snow.
Happy Winter!
