Hi I'm Shazie, a latte-lovin' blogger, self-love advocate, and wellness space facilitator ♥ I'm a West Coast-turned-East Coast girl, so naturally I'm conflicted between Dunkin vs Starbs. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you stick around♥
5 Tips on Setting Boundaries (& Why It's Important!)
This morning, I woke up at 5am (bc hello #eastcoasttime) and decided to do a workout at 6am. While I know I have more than 20 mins to do an at-home exercise workout or program, I wanted something quick, efficient, and sweaty AF.
You ever feel like sometimes you get more done in a shorter period of time? Aiming for a 60-min workout can sometimes be analogous to sitting in front of a laptop for 2.5 hours – are you actually working the full 2.5 hours or working out the full hour?
Sometimes, we tend to normalize working more hours as a sign of hard work, but if you can finish your work in half the time by maximizing efficiency + productivity, that’s a huge win!
I’ve decided to implement that same thought to my fitness mindset. I used to think spending a full hour (sometimes even 1.5hr) at the gym was time well spent until quarantine happened, and I found myself burning more calories and yielding better results just from doing quick 30-40 min at-home workouts.
Lately though, 20 minute workouts have been my JAM, so I thought I’d share a few of my IG favorites (all linked through the screenshots).
All of them require zero equipment! Just your amazing body + mind ready to be put to work 🙂
Okay, #pancakefam! This is one of my fav fitness couples! I’ve been following Remi for a while now and absolutely love her fitness/wellness content. Since quarantine started, she has been posting live 9am PST workouts on her IG led by her bf Nate! Since I was on east coast time for a while, I enjoyed having their live workouts during my lunch break! What I love about their content is each workout leaves me guessing. They even have a “54 Card Pick Up” workout where your workouts are determined by the cards you pick 😛 How’s that for some at home exercise program fun?!
This is one of the three PopSugar fitness classes I’ll be sharing. I’m all about energy, so I was immediately hooked with Deja’s vibe and aura. Her spirit drives the momentum of the class!
Who here loves Barry’s?! I’ve only taken ONE class pre-COVID and remember it being one of the hardest classes I’ve ever taken but also so freaking worth it! You know how some people have loyalty to their SoulCycle instructors? I have mine to Barry’s instructors. They’ll always have a special spot in my heart!
Okay, I tried and tested out her app (Alive by Whitney) and was immediately hooked! If you’ve been following her videos for a while, you’d definitely benefit from the app as well. And yes, I know this isn’t exactly 20 mins, but at least we know that means we’d be sweating even more 😛
What workout post would it be without a fun cardio dance workout?! I have always been more into lifting until recently, I started incorporating MORE cardio classes. One of the ways I enjoy doing cardio is not “feeling” like I’m working out. This cardio dance party was everything I wanted in a quick power sesh! Stacey was also so vibrant and motivating in this!!
No introduction needed for P.volve. I took one of their classes 2 years ago when I was living in NYC. I was at a fitness festival (they really need to normalize this in our new normal), and I remember being so excited to be trained by Stephen. I heard him on The Skinny Confidential Him + Her podcast, so I already knew a bit about P.volve – an accessible training method to help you connect mind to muscle. I was immediately hooked when I found out this was what all the VS angels were doing (haha!)
Alright, that’s all I have gathered for today! Hope you find one best fit to your liking, and remember – you don’t need to allocate hours of your days to get moving and feel good about yourself 🙂
I’ll be sure to share more along the way (including some of my fav YouTube favs)
