I used to be a “YES MA’AM” kinda woman when anybody needed something from me even though I knew I was spreading myself too thin.
I was swiping right on anybody and everybody to seek external validation when I couldn’t give it to myself. I was commuting two hours to AND from my first post-grad job (Angelenos, IYKYK) that I was severely underpaid for all while juggling family responsibilities and being that responsible immigrant Asian daughter.
I prioritized everyone else’s needs around me that I lost myself in the process. I was chasing friends, men, and career paths that did not vibe with who I was which led to exhaustion, self-sabotage, and mental chaos.

As an immigrant, I’ve always had this vision of chasing the American dream. Work hard and do as you’re told *eye roll* I was lost and confused from high school to college in “finding myself” that it took me juggling 2 part-time jobs, 3 times to pass Calculus and 6 years to graduate college. *giggles nervously as I type this out for the world to see* I then worked a very boring research job while side hustling as a blogger and content creator.
In 2017, I decided to do something scary and admit that this life was not what I wanted. I applied to grad school, moved across the country with four luggages, and revamped everything at once. While it was a huge shock to my system, I learned how to do things on my own, slowed TF down and discovered things about myself without outside influences. In short, I was learning how to be ME unapologetically, to embody my authenticity, and to integrate more joy and healing into my life. I started doing the inner work as a DV survivor, which opened doors to my own emotional freedom.
Fast forward to now, I now work with women who are ready to gain clarity and purpose, feel more confident, ditch self-doubts, and shatter narratives created by the oppressive systems we live in. Healing is not something that’s often or ever talked about as women, esp. as women of color, and it’s time we reclaimed our worthiness and joy
