Queen B’s beautiful YOU!
You know that saying – “We all have the same 24 Hours as Beyonce…”
While I highly disagree with this notion (I mean, let’s get real, we all have to do laundry, WORK a job that usually does not pertain to our creative side, wait in line at Trader Joe’s during peak hours after work, etc), I believe that there are indeed ways we can perhaps further maximize use of our time and get more out of the 24 hours we have.
Yup, I know, commuting is horrible. I sit in 1.5 hours in traffic just commuting BACK from work. Instead of struggling to find the perfect playlist on Spotify (which almost never works out btw considering my lack of commitment to any ONE playlist), I recently started listening to podcasts! I mean, what better way to make use of your time in traffic than to sit back and learn? Podcasts, in my opinion, provide a strong platform for people (especially millennials like us) constantly on the go! It supplants philosophy class minus the uncomfortable chairs, early morning overdose of caffeine, and random books deemed to be philosophical but are really just hard to penetrate. Here are some of my personal favorite podcasts I absolutely love –
This weekly podcast features author/blogger/founder of TSC Lauryn Evarts and her fiancé Michael Bosstick. They discuss everything from blogging to success tips to Snapchat… you know, the good stuff! I really appreciate how raw and genuine their podcasts are. It really makes me feel involved and not just an “audience.” They also give you the opportunity to ask them questions via #AskHimAndHer on a wide range of social media platforms to encourage engagement. It also appeals to me just hearing both a feminine and masculine side of things. Find them on iTunes every Tuesday!
Another weekly podcast by yet another SoCal duo Thaís and Bri, the Amplify Collective is an Los Angeles-based community of women emphasizing on the power of UN-networking. Yup, so set aside your work titles and let’s talk PASSION! Their podcasts are such a great “pick-me-up” featuring a diverse group of guest speakers as they power through the importance of amplifying your life, building inner connections, leadership tips, and/or manifesting your destiny. Living in a city where titles sadly define us more than our personalities/interests, this podcast inspires me… even in the midst of LA traffic.
Jackie Schimmel is one of my all-time favs. I love how unfiltered her podcasts are as she gives her insight on sex, pop culture, millennial struggles (sound familiar?), etc. Just like her blog The Bitch Bible, the range of topics she covers is ENDLESS. I remember being stuck on the 101 freeway and not even being phased by my 5 mph because of how entertaining it was. From “Girl Boss” to “The Hoe Whisperer,” I am an “all-things uncensored” type of gal, so her podcasts SPOKE to me; she’s like your best friend to have while sitting in traffic or at home sipping on wine.
Anyway, I’ve only shared three of my favs, but I’ll be sure to update you once I find more. Happy listening!! Traffic has nothing on you now!♥
